Not an election, a drama: BNP on EU delegation

A six-member delegation of BNP held a virtual meeting with the visiting European Union (EU) election expert team. In the meeting, the leaders of the party told the EU delegation that the government is going towards a one-sided election without an opposition party, it is not an election, but a drama is going to be staged in the name of election. They are also given some information in this regard.

BNP Standing Committee members Abdul Moin Khan and Nazrul Islam Khan, Ismail Zabiullah, International Affairs Secretary Humayun Kabir, Human Rights Affairs Secretary Asaduzzaman participated in this Wednesday afternoon meeting. The EU delegation consisted of Rebecca Cox and Charlotte Suebes. The meeting started at three o'clock and ended after four o'clock. Neither side spoke to the media about the meeting.

However, a source present at the meeting told Prothom Alo that they have given evidence to the EU election experts to show how openly rigged and rigged the January 7 elections are. Whoever will be voted for, he is either a boat candidate, or a dummy candidate, or a rebel candidate of Awami League. And those who are being shown as opposition parties, how are they choosing to share seats with the government. Apart from this, it has been highlighted who and what role the law and order forces have played in this rigged election.

Abdul Moin Khan, member of the chief standing committee of the BNP delegation, told Prothom Alo, 'As far as we understand, they will give a report on the election situation. They are collecting information about it. We have highlighted the reality, this is not an election, it is a drama.'
